Leading Beyond Limits:

Excelling in Business & Sport Panel Event

In recognition of this year’s International Women’s Day, Singer Capital Markets were delighted to host an inspiring panel event “Leading Beyond Limits: Excelling in Business & Sport” at Chelsea FC’s stadium, Stamford Bridge, London.

In partnership with Chelsea FC Women, the event brought together a panel of inspiring women who have excelled in both sporting & business careers. With this year’s IWD topic being “Inspire Inclusion”, the panel shared insights into the challenges and opportunities they faced throughout their careers (both on and off the pitch), the difficulties women face and how they overcame setbacks, the benefits of integrating men and women in sport at a young age, how to mentor and inspire young girls and women in business & sport, and much more!

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

A huge thank you to our fantastic panellists – Carly Telford, Flo Edwards and Katie Chapman, as well as our fantastic panel host, Anne-Marie Batson. Meet our Panellists

Carly Telford – Ex-Chelsea FC Women & England Goal Keeper and now part of the Chelsea FC Commercial Team

Carly is a Chelsea Women’s legend who made 50+ appearances for Chelsea Football Club as a goalkeeper. With an amazing career spanning over two decades, and across multiple continents, Carly made it to the top of the women’s game representing her country at the highest International level.

Carly rejoined Chelsea FC last year as a Commercial Player and Relationships Manager, where her focus is towards continuing to grow the women’s game.

Flo Edwards – Ex-England Netballer, Business Founder & 2024 BBC Apprentice Candidate

Flo is the founder of Hathor Talent, a Diversity focused Executive Search and Interim Management firm providing senior finance talent to Private Capital backed portfolio businesses.

Previously she represented England Netball at Youth level, played in the Netball Superleague for Loughborough Lightning and represented England Indoor Netball at both the 2016 and 2019 World Cups. She’s also a candidate on this year’s BBC The Apprentice!

Katie Chapman – Ex-Chelsea FC Women & England Lioness Legend

The signing of Katie Chapman, who was immediately handed the captain’s armband from Arsenal in 2014, made a huge statement to the rest of the Women’s Super League and helped transform Chelsea Women to title winners. What the midfielder brought, among other qualities, was a winning mentality. Katie is one of the most decorated players in the women’s game, having won more FA Cups than any male or female player in history.

Those who shared the pitch with the talented and tough-tackling defensive midfielder would describe Chapman as the ultimate team player.

Anne-Marie Batson (Panel Host) – Premier League Productions reporter and Chelsea FC Women Match Day presenter

Anne-Marie Batson is an energetic, dynamic, and versatile broadcaster known for her work as a Premier League Productions reporter and Chelsea FC Women Match Day presenter. She won the Football Black List award partnered by the Premier League and is making waves in the industry by constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sports media.
